Chapter 16

They return to Cair Paravel to see King Caspian’s return.  Prince Rilian embraces his father just before he dies.  Prince Rilian will be the new king of Narnia.  Aslan takes Jill and Eustace back to Aslan’s Country where they see King Caspian lying in the water.  Aslan resurrects him with a drop of his own blood.   Caspian is once again a young man.  Eustace and Caspian greet each other warmly.  Aslan tells Jill and Eustace that the next time they come to Aslan’s country they will have come to stay.  Aslan allows Caspian to return to England with Eustace and Jill for five minutes to teach the bullies a lesson.  The reaction of the bullies and the schoolmistress seeing the lion causes a huge change in the school

The bullies deserved every minute of what they got.  It's interesting how C.S. Lewis has that Caspian is raised from the dead with a drop of Aslan's blood.  It's also interesting that Aslan says that most people have died including Aslan himself.  This is of course referring to Christ's death for us.  By His death and resurrection we live.

Chapter 15

Jill finally reaches through the top surface and is greeted with a snowball in her face.  She has entered Narnia through a hole in the side of a hill.  The talking animals surround Jill and help her dig out the rest of her friends.

They are out of hell and back into Narnia.

Chapter 14

Prince Rilian doesn’t want to leave his horse and the queen’s behind to die so they run to the horses and then attempt to go through the tunnel that is being dug to the overland.  The earth opens up and a passage into the heart of the earth is opened.  It is very hot.  The earthman invites them to come with him to see his land.  They debate briefly and decide Prince Rilian’s responsibility is to try to return to Narnia and rule there.  They continue on and discover the tunnel comes to a dead end but they see a pale blue light above them.  They try to reach it by having Jill stand on Puddleglum’s shoulders.
You're probably dead if you see a light at the end of the tunnel, so go to the light.  I don't think descending into molten lava would have been much of a temptation for me.

Chapter 13

Puddleglum’s foot is bandaged while they discuss their escape.  They hear noises and watch the earthmen come to life, talking and leaping.   The water around them is rising.  There is an earthquake occurring as well.  They fear that the earthmen are going to attack them because they have destroyed the queen.  They discover while running away that the earthmen are celebrating that the queen is dead.
In RvB's words,
"That's right the queen is dead.  Turns out you are the big hero.  And we're going to hold a parade in your honor.
I get to drive the float and my friend here is in charge of the confetti."

Chapter 12

The queen comes in and is furious but she uses a magic fire and music to confuse and befuddle the children’s minds and Prince Rilian again.  She is convincing them that there is no overland, no sun, no sky, no Aslan.  Puddleglum is almost overcome by it but stomps out the fire, burning his foot and breaks the spell.  The queen is enraged and turns into the green snake that she is.  Prince Rilian and Eustace hack off her head.

Pretty sure that magic stuff in the fire smelled tipsy.  Burnt Puddleglum probably smelled really bad.   The queen was the snake that killed Rilian's mom.  Sin isn't as obvious in our world, we tell ourselves it's not so bad.  Maybe it would be easier to avoid if we could recognize it like a green snake.
